Meta developed and released the Meta Llama 3 family of large language models (LLMs), a collection of pretrained and instruction tuned generative text models in 8 and 70B sizes. The Llama 3 instruction tuned models are optimized for dialogue use cases and outperform many of the available open source chat models on common industry benchmarks.
Llama 3 8B Instruct is available via Fireworks' serverless API, where you pay per token. There are several ways to call the Fireworks API, including Fireworks' Python client, the REST API, or OpenAI's Python client.

Llama 3 8B Instruct can be fine-tuned on your data to create a model with better response quality. Fireworks uses low-rank adaptation (LoRA) to train a model that can be served efficiently at inference time.
